Rapid City Restaurants – 4 Unique Restaurants in South Dakota

Rapid City Restaurants 2

Living in Denver, we have now been to Rapid City, South Dakota several times to visit such landmarks as  Mount Rushmore National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial. and the Badlands National Park. While visiting these attractions are always exciting, another fun part of traveling is trying new restaurants. Thus, we always like to try some non-chain restaurants or at least chains that are not in our area. Of course, we had to hit a few of those while out and about but we were able to find a few unique restaurants. Here are four Rapid City restaurants that I decided I would like to share from some of our visits.  Hope you enjoy reading about these and try them the next time you find yourself in the area. Pilsner Urquell Brewery – Our Unique Brewery Tour

Pilsner Urquell - BuildingWe had an amazing time in the Czech Republic while in Europe in May of 2018.  For two weeks we ran around Austria, Germany as well as the Czech Republic. However, we really enjoyed our time in Prague (Praha) and I loved seeing the Charles Bridge and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church of Our Lady in Old Town. Sadly we were only there a couple of days and headed south to Germany. However, on our way south we made a detour and visited the city of Pilsner (Pilsen) to tour the Pilsner Urquell Brewery.

We have been on quite a few brewery tours, but this one was quite unique. Above is a Youtube video I made about our tour. Hope you enjoy some pictures that are not here in the post.

Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany – Get Your Drink On

Hofbräuhaus - Bldg 1I am so happy to be able to share some posts of some of the exciting things we did while in the Munich area in May of 2018. One of the more enjoyable things we did was visit the Hofbrauhaus. We needed it after touring Dachaus earlier in the day. I can happily say a few beers definitely helped us get back in the holiday spirit.  🙂

Sturgis, South Dakota – Home of the Annual Motorcycle Rally

Sturgis HillWhile in the area visiting Mount Rushmore National Monument and Crazy Horse Memorial in June of 2015, we decided to check out the interesting city of Sturgis. It was founded in 1878 and was originally named Scooptown. It was named this because many of the residents “scooped up” their pay from nearby Fort Meade. Its name was later changed to Sturgis in honor of the Civil War Union General Samuel D. Sturgis. Today that is approximately 6,800 residents.   Continue reading “Sturgis, South Dakota – Home of the Annual Motorcycle Rally”

Odell Brewing Company – Fort Collins, Colorado

Odell Brewery FrontLast year my husband Gene, my niece Cassidy and I spent part of my birthday afternoon touring the beautiful Odell Brewing Company facility in Fort Collins.  We had never been there so it was fun checking out a new brewery basically in our own backyard. Not only did we have a good time exploring their amazing building and store, we also learned that the company has been independent since 1989 and is 100% employee-owned. I found that very interesting. They want their employees invested, and it looks like it works well for everybody. I wish a lot more companies followed this practice. I think there would be a lot more pride in what they do and feel more accomplished at the end of the day.
