Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park – Georgia

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield 6While visiting some friends in Georgia and attending a convention in June of 2012, we had a great time checking out the Coca-Cola Museum as well as their capitol. One of the more interesting things we did was have dinner at  Stone Mountain and watched a laser light show on the huge monument depicting Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis during the Civil War. It was very interesting and led us to check out a few other Civil War parks and Battlefields. One such place we visited during our visit was Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. This huge park is located between Marietta and Kennesaw.

Montana State Capitol in Helena – The Treasure State

Montana State Capitol - Front

In September of 2019, we took a road trip and we were finally able to visit Montana and check off another state we had not been to before. This was the 40th state we visited and we were able to tour the Montana State Capitol while in the Helena area. It was a very interesting state capitol and the grounds were pretty nice to check out as well. I am not sure how many capitols we had been to at that point, but we are slowly making our way toward our desire to visit each capitol one day.

Moab, Utah -One of the Grandest Views in the West

Moab - SignSince moving to Denver, Co we have been able to take a few fun long weekend trips to Moab, Utah, and explore the beautiful parks and area. The drive is phenomenal and it is not too long of a drive from where we are currently living. For those not familiar with Moab, it is a city in Grand County, in eastern Utah, and is the county seat and largest city in Grand County. Moab attracts a large number of tourists every year, mostly visitors to the nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.

Tillamook Creamery, Oregon – Doing Things Right for over 100 Years!

Tillamook Creamery - Entrance

Mention the City Tillamook in Oregon, and most people will immediately think of the Tillamook Creamery. While in the Portland area in February of 2022 we decided to take a drive out west to see the Pacific Ocean again, the Tillamook Air Museum, as well as the Tillamook Creamery, yum! This amazing factory and visitor center is about two miles north of the actual city of Tillamook on Route 101 and about 1hr to 1 ½ from the Portland area. It was definitely worth the drive to visit the area and their facility.

Pizza Hut Museum – Wichita, Kansas

Pizza Hut Museum - TableDid the title make you hungry? I was feeling hungry when we visited the Pizza Hut Museum in Wichita on our recent trip to Kansas in March of 2022, lol. In all seriousness, this was a great museum and so glad we were able to do a self-guided tour of this small little building that was the original Pizza Hut location. It has since been moved and is now located on the campus of Wichita State University. Even though it is small,  it is packed with information and history about the Pizza Hut brand. Here is their story.

Comerica Park in Detroit, MI – Home of the Detroit Tigers

Comerica Park - Main Gate

On my continued quest to visit all 30 MLB ballparks, in this post, I am going to share our visit to Comerica Park. We were in Michigan in May of 2021 and spent the first part of the trip seeing the beautiful Mackinaw Bridge near the Upper Peninsula. It was beautiful and enjoyed it there, but after our time there, we headed to Detroit for a few days. The main thing I wanted to visit while in the area was catch a game at a park I had never been to, and watch the Tigers play at their home park. It is a lovely park and it was a beautiful day. Even though it may have been a little windy at times, it kept it from getting too hot. It was a great day to catch a game. Butterflies Everywhere at the Butterfly Farm in St. Martin

Butterflies 5Welcome to the island of St Martin. As I said in my post Our 3 Favorite Beaches of Philipsburg, Saint Martin, we had a timeshare in St Martin and vacationed here a few times. I always loved visiting this beautiful area and one of the highlights was the Butterfly Farm – La Ferme des Papillons.  It is absolutely amazing and I love all the colorful butterflies. Some much in fact, that I brought home souvenirs for myself and my mom because I couldn’t resist. 🙂 Read below this post for an update about the butterfly farm in St. Martin. Memphis Rock N Soul Museum – Memphis, Tennessee

Memphis Rock N Soul Museum - 4While in Memphis in October of 2020 we were lucky enough to visit a few places related to Elvis Presley such as Graceland and Sun Studio. While doing research for our trip I found a deal from a combo ticket package that included those attractions as well as the Memphis Rock n Soul Museum. Memphis is all about music so I was so happy and looking forward to visiting this museum while in the area. I wasn’t sure what to expect and was quite surprised during our visit.

Arizona Capitol Museum – The Grand Canyon State

Arizona Capitol Museum - Inside 1After being in Arizona MANY times through the years, Gene and I had never been able to do a tour of the Arizona State Capitol building, also known as the Arizona Capitol Museum. Happily, on a trip in December of 2021, we were finally able to visit this capitol and learn more about the history of Arizona.  We ended up doing a self-guided tour, not sure if they have guided ones, but we grabbed a flyer about the capitol and set out to see what we could see and learn. You can also watch my video if you would like to see more pictures that are not on this post.
