Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower

Hilton Hawaiian Village - SIgnIn an earlier post, I shared our experience at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki while on Oahu in December of 2016. Today I wanted to share a little about the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  We did not stay here, nor sadly did we even step inside of the hotel.  We visited the hotel for two very interesting reasons.  Continue reading “Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower”

The Stanley Hotel – Iconic Estes Park, Colorado Hotel

Stanley Hotel - FrontWhen people mention or think of the Stanley Hotel their first thoughts might be “The Shining”. There is a reason for that I will get to it in a bit. For now however, I’d like to share a little bit about the hotel, where it’s located, etc. The Stanley Hotel is located in Estes Park, Colorado about five miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. This 140 room Colonial Revival hotel also includes a restaurant and spa with panoramic views of Lakes Estes, the Rockies, and Longs Peak. It is in a very beautiful location. Btw, I have been there many times with different family and friends that have been here in Colorado to visit so these pictures are from multiple visits through the last 15 or so years. They are in no particular order.

The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa – Downtown, Denver

Brown Palace -Outside We have now lived in Colorado for over 8 years and had never been to the Brown Palace. We have heard a lot of things about this historic downtown Denver hotel, but up until a few weeks ago, we had not taken the time to go in and check it out. The first thing that I have to say was that it was bigger and smaller all at the same time if that is possible. Apparently being tall and skinny makes it look bigger. I loved how stylish it is, and how inviting all the staff made me feel while I was there. I talked to a desk clerk as well as the concierge. They were very helpful and even gave me a self-guided tour book of the hotel. They do have guided tours, which I will get into later, but I ended up just doing the self-guided tour the day I was there. Continue reading “The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa – Downtown, Denver”

Your AAA Card Can Save You Enough Money to Pay Your Membership!

AAAColoradoEverybody knows that the Automobile Association of America (AAA) has roadside assistance, and will be there when you need them. Heck, I have been with them for over 25 years and have used them quite a few times. There is nothing like seeing that big white truck coming to help you. It’s like a knight in shining armor coming to save the day. Ok, maybe not, but if you are stuck on the side of the road, you are definitely relieved to see them.

Hyatt Resorts – Hyatt Place Hotel in Boulder, Colorado

Hyatt Place - BldgIn November of 2017, we celebrated our 25th dating anniversary and did a staycation. Since we wanted to stay close, we decided to stay at the Hyatt Place Boulder in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. On previous adventures, we had stayed at a couple of other Hyatt properties in Denver,  the Grand Hyatt, and the Hyatt Regency. However, we had never stayed at a Hyatt Place. Thus we were excited to be able to spend some time checking out this newer hotel. Continue reading “Hyatt Resorts – Hyatt Place Hotel in Boulder, Colorado”

Hyatt Resorts – Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort, Hawaii

Hyatt Regency Waikiki - FrontAs Hyatt Reward members we have stayed at a few Hyatt locations, however, none of them have been as nice as the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. It is located on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki and has to be one of the most incredible hotels in the Hyatt Brand.  We had stayed at the Andaz on 5th Avenue in New York which was really nice, but this one blew me away. The Aloha Spirit was evident as soon as I walked into the hotel in December of 2016. As we headed toward the front desk at least 3 employees nodded and said aloha, and one of them offered me a drink of water or pineapple Iced Tea. It was very tasty. It was a very nice welcome. Laughlin, Nevada – There’s Plenty to See and to Do

laughlin signI lived most of my life in Southern California and spent many weekends in Las Vegas. As much fun as Vegas is, it can be really expensive and really crowded. I am not much of a crowd person, so I much rather head to Laughlin to gamble and spend a long weekend. It’s only about 41/2 hours from where we used to live so it was a nice 3 or 4-day weekend trip we did every few years.  I would rather go there most times, but many of our friends always liked to go to Vegas for bachelor/bachelorette parties or birthday parties. I also tried to convince people to go to Laughlin instead, lol. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn’t. 🙁

Indoor Farmers Market and the Kuhio Beach Hulu Show – Waikiki, Oahu

Indoor Farmers Market - VeggiesThere were a lot of cool things about being at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki during our visit to Oahu in December of 2016. One of them was being able to enjoy the Indoor Farmers Market they hold every Tuesday and Thursday night from 4-8 pm. We hit it right after watching the amazing Hula Show on Kuhio Beach. I will share a little more about that show in a bit, but first I want to share a little about the wonderful Farmers Market.
