17-Mile Drive in Scenic Pebble Beach, California

17-Mile Drive 1While on one of our trips in Northern California,  checking out the Golden Gate Bridge, we were lucky enough to drive the breathtaking 17-mile drive through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove on the Monterey   Peninsula. It is absolutely beautiful and follows the Pacific coastline and passes famous golf courses, mansions, and scenic attractions, including Spanish Bay Cove, the Lone Cypress, Bird Rock, and the 5,300-acre Del Monte Forest of Monterey Cypress trees. Before we went I knew it was 17 miles. duh, but I didn’t know it had four primary entrances, the main highway entrance at California State Route 1, and entrances in Carmel and Pacific Grove.     Continue reading “17-Mile Drive in Scenic Pebble Beach, California”

Rapid City, South Dakota – My Top 7 Free Things on Our to-do List

Rapid City 1We have had a few fun times exploring Rapid City, South Dakota and the area since living here in CO. Of course we had to do the big attractions like Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse, but we also look forward to doing some more historical and local attractions on our next trip in May of 2022. With a budget in mind, I also wanted to do a few free things while in the area. Thus I did some research and found 7 free things around Rapid City that I think would be fun to do. Here is my list (alphabetically): Continue reading “Rapid City, South Dakota – My Top 7 Free Things on Our to-do List”

Sawgrass Recreation Park – Everglades Airboat Tour

Sawgrass Recreation Park - AirboatThis time last year we were getting ready to head to Miami Florida for New Year’s 2020/2021.  While we were looking forward to visiting some of the local attractions, the one thing I was REALLY looking forward to was the airboat ride through the Everglades. I had seen it so many times on CSI Miami at the beginning and had always wanted to do it. So after we booked our airline tickets, I booked our tour at Sawgrass Recreation Park. It was near the end of our trip and I could hardly wait for our ride, lol.

Canyonlands National Park – Moab, Utah

Canyonlands 7On our first trip to Moab, Utah we had wanted to do Arches National Park one day, and Canyonlands National Park the next day, however, we quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen as Arches National Park was just too big. We were disappointed with our limited amount of time in Moab, but it did give us a great reason to come back. It was definitely on our must-see list the next time we were in the area. were able to visit on a trip in February of 2021.

Jensen-Olsen Arboretum – Juneau, Alaska

alaJensen-Olsen Arboretum 1During July of 2021, we were lucky enough to visit Juneau Alaska for a delayed anniversary trip. Alaska was such a beautiful and amazing experience. I really hope to go back one day and do some more exploring other parts of the state. Juneau was a great place to see on our first visit. One of the places that we really enjoyed seeing, besides Mendenhall Glacier was the Jensen-Olsen Arboretum. I am not sure what I was expecting to see, but it was beyond what I was expecting in so many ways. First a little history about the Jensen-Olsen Arboretum and where it is located.

Which Countries Prefer Left Hand Drive Over Right Hand Drive? Why?

Left Hand Drive 1As we were getting ready to head to Germany in May of 2018 a co-worker and I were talking about driving on the Autobahn. This conversation somehow led us to talk about driving on the left side of the road versus driving on the right side of the road. Even though German drivers, as well as most of Europe, drive on the right also, it made me stop and think why some countries drive on the left. The only time I remember us driving on the left-hand side was when we were in England and Wales. It was quite an interesting experience, lol It also made me wonder how many countries actually do drive on the left. So I did a little research. The Lucille Ball Hometown Experience – Jamestown, New York

Lucille Ball 1Growing up I always watched I love Lucy with my mom as she grew up watching it. The series aired from 1951-1957. Today, more than 70 years since the last episode aired on May 6, 1957, this amazing comedic icon named Lucille Ball is still entertaining people everyday. Thus when Gene and I were in Buffalo NY for my birthday in 2021 we had to make sure and visit the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum in her hometown, Jamestown. I didn’t know what to expect really, but I was excited to visit, and it didn’t disappoint. We had an amazing I love Lucy experience.
