In November of 2019 we did a staycation and spent a long weekend at the Hyatt Place here in Boulder, CO. While there we were able to do something that we hadn’t done since we’ve lived here in CO, we walked up and down Pearl Street Mall. Here is a little bit of trivia for those interested, the Pearl Street Mall was officially dedicated on August 6, 1977. It was nice to be out and about, but the most fun was watching all the street performers. It was a little chilly, but not too bad for the beginning of November. Airline Tickets – When is the Best Time to Book a Flight?
If you have read any of my Money Saving Tips for your Big Trip posts you may know that we love to travel and have several trips planned for the rest of the year. While I am very excited about these awesome trips, the thought of pricing for our airline tickets really scared me. I have heard a lot of “experts” say to purchase your tickets on Tuesday evening or Sunday. With all of this information running around, I decided to do a little searching myself and see what I found. The amount of information was shocking. Continue reading “Airline Tickets – When is the Best Time to Book a Flight?”
The RiverWalk and Outlet Collection – New Orleans, Louisiana
We had the most amazing time during our visit to New Orleans in December of 2017. On our first afternoon in the city, we took a trolley down to check out the RiverWalk. While it wasn’t on my post titled 8 Free Things To Do in New Orleans, Louisiana, it is definitely something I am glad we didn’t miss. Not only can you see the beautiful Mississippi River, the amazing Crescent City Connection Bridge (formerly known as the Greater New Orleans Bridge), the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen Ship, as well as the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk Mall. We walked around the mall a little bit, but I was more interested in checking out the River Walk, the river, the ship, and the bridge. There is also a hotel connected to the RiverWalk Outlet Collection called the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. It turned out to be a great place to get a few pictures of us and the bridge. New Mexico State Capitol in Santa Fe – The Land of Enchantment
While on a trip to Albuquerque, NM in October of 2007 to see the annual Balloon Fiesta we added in an extra couple of days to check out Santa Fe. We have been to many state capitol buildings as we have traveled the US. I have to say though that one of the most interesting we visited was the New Mexico State Capitol. It is the only round state capitol in the United States. Informally it is also known as “the Roundhouse”). What impressed me was that it was also designed to resemble the Zia Sun Symbol when viewed from above. The capitol contains 232,346 square feet and was dedicated on December 8, 1966. The Taste of Colorado – A Colorado Labor Day Tradition
Experiencing the Taste of Colorado had been on our list of things to do since we moved here to Colorado. Happily, we can now say that we finally made it to the annual celebration for the first time in 2015! I had seen pictures and heard stories about the Taste of Colorado, but it was great to finally experience it firsthand. We had a great time. Sleep Patterns While Traveling – Adjusting to New Time Zones
Did you recently have to change your time due to a time change? This hour (especially when you lose it) really messes with a lot of people, Gene is in this lucky group, but an hour doesn’t seem to bother me as much. This did start me thinking about losing sleep and sleep patterns while traveling. Oddly enough Gene doesn’t have as much trouble adjusting to time differences when traveling to Europe, but this hour difference throws him for a loop, lol. William Buffalo Bill Cody Park – North Platte, Nebraska
On a previous post, Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum, I shared that my nieces and nephews are related to William F Cody – aka, Buffalo Bill Cody. In May of 2019 my nephew Jesse was here visiting us in Colorado and wanted to take a little road trip to the North Platte in Nebraska. While there we had to visit North Platte’s Cody Park.

Browser Cookies – Save Money on Flights by Clearing Browser Cookies
In today’s age of technology, we are booking flights and flying across the county at increasing rates. With the summer in full season, ticket prices will also be increasing. However, there are still a few tricks to try to get the cheapest tickets available by flying at certain times or on certain days. You can read my post Best Time to Book Airline Tickets. However there is another trick that a lot of people may not know, and it’s pretty simple. It’s called clearing your cookies. Not we aren’t talking about cleaning cookies off your keyboard, lol, we are talking about clearing the history in your browser. The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa – Downtown, Denver
We have now lived in Colorado for over 8 years and had never been to the Brown Palace. We have heard a lot of things about this historic downtown Denver hotel, but up until a few weeks ago, we had not taken the time to go in and check it out. The first thing that I have to say was that it was bigger and smaller all at the same time if that is possible. Apparently being tall and skinny makes it look bigger. I loved how stylish it is, and how inviting all the staff made me feel while I was there. I talked to a desk clerk as well as the concierge. They were very helpful and even gave me a self-guided tour book of the hotel. They do have guided tours, which I will get into later, but I ended up just doing the self-guided tour the day I was there. Continue reading “The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa – Downtown, Denver”
