NYC Christmas Videos – Top Things To Do in NYC at Christmas

NYC Christmas 1

NYC Christmas Visit

The holidays are upon us and I have to say, I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I love the lights, the music, the food, and especially the meaning of Christmas. They are always exciting, but Christmas of 2018 was especially epic. We were happy to be able to experience the NYC Christmas season in mid-December!  We couldn’t wait to see the lights, trees, window decorations, and everything NYC is known for during Christmas. I was not disappointed. It was more than I thought it would be. The tree at Rockefeller Center is something you HAVE to make sure to see while in the area. Brewery Lights at Anheuser Busch in St. Louis, Missouri

Brewery Lights - FrontWe had a wonderful time at the Anheuser Busch Holiday Brewery Lights in St. Louis while visiting family over Thanksgiving in November of 2014. I am a little sad that we wouldn’t be able to go this year again, but I am beyond excited to share that the location here in Fort Collins, CO is also doing the Holiday Brewery Lights this year too! I can’t wait to go and see what it will be like this year. For those of you in the Saint Louis area, or if you are going to be in the area, it is running this year on Thursdays thru Sundays from November 17th – December 30th.

Travel Quote – “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”

Travel Quote - MapI have seen this travel quote many times and have always agreed with it. However, since I have been blogging, and reading more blogs, it has even more meaning. Since my husband and I started traveling years ago, our eyes have been opened to so many new experiences and different cultures that I would not have had if we hadn’t made travel a priority in our lives. I even quit my 9-5 office corporate job to write this travel blog, and I am working on trying to live a freedom lifestyle.

Covered Bridges Located in the Cottage Grove Area Near Eugene, Oregon

Covered Bridge - Main PIcIn September of 2020 we were in Eugene, Oregon and were amazed at the beautiful area. There were big enough cities around, but you could also get out and explore some of the countryside if you wish. We found a book in our Airbnb and saw an article about several covered bridges in the area. For those that have been following me, you may have noticed I love bridges. Check out my post on Mackinaw Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Perrine Bridge, etc. Bridges are awesome, lol. The Stanley Hotel – Iconic Estes Park, Colorado Hotel

Stanley Hotel - FrontWhen people mention or think of the Stanley Hotel their first thoughts might be “The Shining”. There is a reason for that I will get to it in a bit. For now however, I’d like to share a little bit about the hotel, where it’s located, etc. The Stanley Hotel is located in Estes Park, Colorado about five miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. This 140 room Colonial Revival hotel also includes a restaurant and spa with panoramic views of Lakes Estes, the Rockies, and Longs Peak. It is in a very beautiful location. Btw, I have been there many times with different family and friends that have been here in Colorado to visit so these pictures are from multiple visits through the last 15 or so years. They are in no particular order.

Traveling With Pets: Your Guide to Driving With Your Furry Friends

Traveling With Pets - Dog PrintsWe recently had a great time doing some read trips with our puppies here in Colorado and planning to drive to CA for Thanksgiving. With the holidays upon us, I am sure there will be a lot of people traveling with pets to Grandma’s house, etc. We have taken MANY road trips with our furry friends (over 20 states I believe) and it has sometimes been apparent that there are many dog-friendly towns. There were so many dogs walking around with their owners, enjoying the warm weather. It was so nice sitting out on a patio with other dog owners and having a beer and some pizza.

Indiana State Capitol in Indianapolis- The Hoosier State

Indiana State Capitol - FrontIn April of this year, 2021,  we still had some airline vouchers we had to use and decided to spend a 3 day weekend exploring Indianapolis. One of the main things Gene wanted to see and do of course was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Fortunately, we got to see that as well as the Indiana State Capitol building (aka the Statehouse) and the Canal Walk. It is a beautiful Capitol full of history.

Beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens – Hamilton, Ontario Canada

Royal Botanical Gardens - Front 1For my birthday in October of 2021, we spent a week in the Buffalo area and were thrilled to visit Niagara Falls. They are amazing and I was very happy to be able to finally see them in person. While in the area we were lucky enough to be able to head into Canada and see them from the Canadian side. Both sides are beautiful and so glad we decided to take our trip internationally and went to Canada. Since we were already in Canada, we decided to spend part of the day checking out waterfalls, Lake Ontario, and such in the city of Hamilton which. It is a little city about an hour away but sadly we weren’t able to do that because you had to have reservations (thanks to the sadist Chinese “leader”, NOT) but ended up visiting the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington/Hamilton area. It was a very wonderful alternative and perfect day weather-wise to be strolling through their gardens.

Mardi Gras World, New Orleans – A Behind the Scenes Tour

Mardi Gras World 1In January we took a 3-day weekend to use up some travel vouchers before they expired thanks to the selfish Chinese leader 🙁 However, we did have a great time. While we had been there before and checked out Jackson Square in the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, there was still something we hadn’t done on those previous trips, see a float parade during Mardi Gras.  As it turned out, we were there during what would have been the beginning of Carnival and Mardi Gras, but again the parades and such were canceled by the aforementioned pathetic Chinese leader.  While we were disappointed,  we decided to finally check out Mardi Gras World! This is where all the floats are designed and created. We had a blast, and it was a great substitution.

Pictograph Cave State Park – Billings, Montana

Pictograph Cave State Park - SIgnIn late May of 2021 Gene and I took another road trip to Billings, Montana to see my niece and nephew who had just moved there. We had been before, but there was one thing we hadn’t seen on previous visits was Pictograph Cave State Park which is located about five miles south of Billings.
