Munich, Germany – My Top 7 Free Things on Our to-do List

Munich - MarienplatzIn May of 2018 we were spending a couple of weeks in Europe for our 20th anniversary.  While we were looking forward to spending a few days in Vienna in Austria and Prague in the Czech Republic, we were going to be in Munich Germany for a little more than a week. I can’t tell you how excited I was to finally get to Germany.  This city looks so amazing and interesting. I have German ancestors and couldn’t wait to wait to visit some of biergartens, try some local fare, and see some of the amazing landscape. As with the other cities, we have a few things planned but also wanted to mix in a few free things while in the area. Therefore I eagerly did some research and found quite a few free things. Thus I decided to share with all of you in case you are planning your own trip to Munich. Here is the list of my top 7 free things we hope to do on our trip (in no particular order). I will also let you know which places we visited and share a little about our experience while visiting.

The Maryland State House in Annapolis – The Old Line State

Maryland State House - FrontIn August of 2009, we found ourselves in Maryland and were able to catch a couple of games at Camden Yards, visit Fort McHenry, as well as tour the Maryland State Capitol. More formally known as the Maryland State House. Whatever they call it, I call it beautiful. Not only was the architecture of the Capitol beautiful, but the grounds were also amazing. We had a great time walking around and taking in its history. Continue reading “The Maryland State House in Annapolis – The Old Line State”

Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, New York – A NYC Must See

Rockefeller Center-1In October of 2015 we able to take our first trip to New York City and finally see Rockefeller Center and Plaza, as well as the Skating Rink. It was a little too early for the Christmas tree, but it was still incredible. What I didn’t realize was how large the area is. It is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, spanning the area between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, and is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering 22 acres.  I also didn’t know that it was declared a New York City Landmark on April 23, 1985, and a National Historic Landmark on December 23, 1987. Huntington Beach in California – Love Strolling Along the Ocean

Huntington Beach-4Huntington Beach, California

As stated in many previous posts, I am thrilled to be living in Colorado now but there are a few things I miss about the Golden State of California. I miss our family and friends of course which is why we keep coming back to visit so often. However, while we are there, I also love eating at a few restaurants that aren’t in CO  as well as seeing the incredible Pacific Ocean. I have been on both coasts and really like the Pacific better.  There is just nothing like it. We usually try to get to one of our two favorites Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. On this particular trip, we made it to Huntington Beach. Even though it was cold, and the water was probably beyond freezing, we enjoyed being in the area. Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument – Montana

Little Bighorn - Front GateLike many things we have done while traveling, sometimes something really surprises you or hits you differently. One such place is Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument near Crow Agency, Montana.  First off, I thought it was in Wyoming, my bad 🙁  I had heard of this place for many years from my stepdad and learned a little bit about Custer and Sitting Bull, and the battle that happened there, but never thought about seeing it. My view on history has changed A LOT through the years, and when we were in Montana September of 2018, we made sure to visit.
