Coney Island, New York – Playground of the World

Gene and I were just in NYC last month and had an amazing time. We were able to see and do some of the things that we hadn’t been able to on previous trips, including a tour of Yankee Stadium as well as a game at Citi Field. However, another thing that was high on our list to do was to check out Coney Island. It has always been fall or winter when we had been there, and it was just a little too cold to spend the day running around Coney Island. However, May was a perfect time to visit for a couple of reasons. First, it was scorching, which is extremely important for me as I am NOT a heat person. Secondly there usually aren’t a lot of people and tourists there yet. We also quickly learned that the rides and such weren’t open for the season yet (the park opened the following weekend 🙁 ) which also cut down on the would-be traffic.

Puerto Plata – Dominican Republic Visitor Guide Series Part 5 of 5

Puerto Plata - Beach 1

Hi all, I am doing a little something different this month and doing a 5 part series on cities to visit in the Dominion Republic. This is the final part of my 5 part series. Below are links to other cities in the country that we hope to visit. I have been watching some of my favorite YouTube vloggers Delightful Travellers and they have been there for six months and are planning to be there for a few more months. They make it look so beautiful and inviting that we are seriously thinking about spending a week or so there over Christmas and New Years’ this year. We have never been out of the country over the New Year I don’t think, and have never been to the Dominion Republic so this will be an adventure! Not sure where we will end up if we do go to the DR, thus I wanted to do some research on many cities to decide where we would like to visit most. This post is about a beach city named Puerto Plata. In it, I am going to share some of the fun things I hope to do if we make it to Puerta Plata, as well as share a little history about the area.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower

Hilton Hawaiian Village - SIgnIn an earlier post, I shared our experience at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki while on Oahu in December of 2016. Today I wanted to share a little about the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  We did not stay here, nor sadly did we even step inside of the hotel.  We visited the hotel for two very interesting reasons.  Continue reading “Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower”

Pensacola Beach Florida – Things to do Under the Sun

Pensacola TowerIt has been quite cold here in Colorado lately and I am missing the warmth we had while in Miami, Florida this time last year and did the exciting Everglades Airboat Tour. Sadly, we won’t be back in Florida until maybe later this year.  However while talking to a friend about Florida it made me start thinking about a trip to Florida in May of 2011, when we spent time part of a week playing in the Pensacola area.  Unlike Miami, in Pensacola you will find miles of white sand beaches, but they stretch along the Gulf of Mexico. We enjoyed our time swimming and playing in these crystal clear waters.

Tulum – The Mayan Ruins in the City of Dawn, Cancun

tulumIt may have been over 23 years ago since we visited Cancun, Mexico on our honeymoon, but we had a great time. One of the things we enjoyed while on our visit was the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city named Tulum.  However, it was formerly been known by the name Zama, meaning City of Dawn, because it faces the sunrise.
