OUR WEDDING DAY – MAY 9, 1998

We are Eugene and Samantha and we live near Denver, CO. Thank you for reading our travel blog. Here is some information so you can get to know us a little better.  While we were both raised in southern CA, we moved to Colorado in January of 2007. We met through friends in late 1992 and started dating soon after that. After dating exclusively for about four and a half years, when we got engaged. It happened on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day. The evening was very special and romantic. A car and driver picked us up and drove us to a business near the Queen Mary in Long Beach.

The business turned out to be a helicopter service. The pilot took us on a forty-five-minute tour over the greater LA area. It was an incredible flight. It was an amazing way to see the city in a completely different light. Eugene’s palms were hot and sweaty. I thought he was excited about the ride, but maybe he was a little nervous about what was going to happen later in the evening. Either way, he was on a natural high. Toward the end of the flight, we flew over the beach cities, which was absolutely gorgeous.

At the conclusion of the tour, we were dropped off on the top of the Trans America building in LA. We had an excellent dinner at The Tower Restaurant, which was on the top floor of the building. The food and service were both great, and the view was absolutely gorgeous. It would have been the best place to pop the question, providing Eugene hadn’t forgotten the ring. Oops.

After dinner, our driver drove us home, where he got on one knee and proposed. It was an evening neither one of us will forget. We had a gazebo wedding a year later on May 9th, 1998 at The Golden Sails in Long Beach, California. We spent our honeymoon in beautiful Cancun, Mexico. Hope you enjoyed the pictures from our wedding day!

In early 2000 we were contacted by a member of King of Kings and invited to come to one of their services. We did and really liked what we heard. We also found out that they were part of the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). After going for a few months, and taking some Bible Information Classes, we became members. We were members until we moved to CO in 2007 and are now members of Shepherd of the Valley in Westminster, CO. I was the president of our women’s group for a year, and now the reporter for LWMS (our women’s missionary society). Eugene is currently serving on the Board of Trustees. As you can see, we jumped in with both feet. Ok, below is the meat of this Get To Know Us section. I try to keep it updated as often as possible.

EUGENE

Eugene is of Japanese descent. He has a brother living in Anaheim, CA, and several relatives in Hawaii. Gene was born in Honolulu and moved to CA when he was two years old. He is now fifty-six and works for RTD, the local transportation company. Originally was hired as a bus operator, but after a couple of years, he got a promotion and is now working as a revenue tech. He is fixing the fare boxes and ticket machines for the train stations. He is enjoying it and is glad to be using his degree in his job.

Besides electronics, he loves anything to do with aviation and machinery. While he received his A.S. from Long Beach City College in the spring of 2002, he is also in the process of trying to get his pilot’s license. He use to road race motorcycles at several racetracks in Southern CA. . He loves to watch history shows and documentaries. Other hobbies include shooting, reading, computer gaming, and net surfing. He loves to look at used cars online, even when we aren’t in the process of looking for a new car, lol.

SAMANTHA

I was born in Long Beach, CA, and lived in Los Alamitos most of my young life. My mom lives in Frazier Park, CA.,  I have a sister who lives in Norco, CA, and a brother who lives in Cypress, CA. Both siblings have three children and I love them dearly. I am fifty-two and just made a major life change. I quit my job as a Tech Support Coordinator and started working on my blog. It was a scary but exciting move, and working hard to make it a success. I hope to one day travel more and lead what I call a freedom lifestyle.

This was a long time coming.  I  earned my AS in Computer Applications from Cypress College in the spring of 1999 and my BA in Occupation Studies from Long Beach State University in the spring of 2006. I love the computer, and can never get enough of it. Just ask Eugene. This is also part of the reason I started this blog! I enjoy working from home and making friends online all over the world. It really makes you realize how big and small the world really is. Besides traveling, other hobbies include baseball, specifically Angels baseball, (well most sports in general,) reading, playing with the dogs, chatting with friends online or on the phone, and movie watching.
