Stax Museum of American Soul Music – Memphis, Tennessee

Stax Museum - Bldg

While in Memphis in October of 2020, we did a lot of museums related to music such as the Rock n Soul Museum, Sun Studio, as well as seeing Elvis’ Graceland. We ended up buying a Backstage pass pilgrimage with included the three above, as well as the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.  I didn’t know much about this museum before we went, but I learned a lot while there and while working on this post Continue reading “Stax Museum of American Soul Music – Memphis, Tennessee”

Memphis, Tennessee – Our Top 10 Things to See and Do

Memphis - Welcome

In October of 2020 Gene and I was able to finally visit Memphis Tennessee on a birthday road trip. We had a blast and had a whole list of things we wanted to see and do. Of course, we never have time to do everything on one trip. Added to that, we met with friends who live in a different part of Tennessee and they had a list of their own, lol. With that in mind, I decided to create a list of some of the most exciting things to see and do in Memphis so you can plan your next trip. These are not in any particular order. Except Graceland is first as I grew up loving Elvis and couldn’t wait to visit his home.

Memphis Rock N Soul Museum – Memphis, Tennessee

Memphis Rock N Soul Museum - 4While in Memphis in October of 2020 we were lucky enough to visit a few places related to Elvis Presley such as Graceland and Sun Studio. While doing research for our trip I found a deal from a combo ticket package that included those attractions as well as the Memphis Rock n Soul Museum. Memphis is all about music so I was so happy and looking forward to visiting this museum while in the area. I wasn’t sure what to expect and was quite surprised during our visit.

Sun Studio in Memphis, TN – Where Musical Legends Were Made

Sun Studio 1While preparing for our trip to Arkansas and Tennessee in October of 2020, there were a lot of things I wanted to see and do on our list. One of the main things I wanted to see in Tennessee, besides Graceland, was Sun Studio. As an Elvis fan, it has always been something I have heard about and wanted to see one day. I didn’t know much about it, except that it was the studio where Elvis was discovered. I learned a lot more during our tour.

Dresden, Tennessee – Connecting with my Ancestral Roots

Dresden - SignI love writing and telling stores, so I was excited to do my post today. However, it also made me feel a little sad, as my grandma was very special and important to me. I will never stop missing her 🙁  However, today I want share my visit to Dresden, Tennessee. For those you don’t know where it is (not many probably do), it’s a little tiny city in northwest Tennessee between Nashville and Memphis. Not only is this the birthplace of my wonderful grandma, but also the final resting place of her parents, my great grandparents, one of her sons, and her sister. While it was an emotional trip on many levels, it was also a wonderful visit.

In the meantime, please enjoy the information on the states from South Dakota – Wyoming.  FYI, these are in alphabetical order. Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey Tour – Lynchburg, TN

On a trip to Tennessee in February 2013, we met up with some friends and decided to do the tour at Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg.  We had a blast and learned a lot about the distilling process. For those of you who don’t know, Jack Daniels is the top selling American whiskey in the world, owned and by the Brown-Forman Corporation since 1956.  An interesting note, is that despite being the location of a major operational distillery, Jack Daniels home county of Moore is a dry county, so the product is not available for consumption at stores or restaurants within the county. Crazy huh? Continue reading “Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey Tour – Lynchburg, TN”

Ruby Falls – One of Tennessee’s Must See Attractions
