Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint – Tillamook, Oregon

Cape Meares - 4

While staying at an Airbnb in Beaverton, Oregon in Feb of 2022 we decided to take a short trip west to visit the Tillamook Creamery and the Tillamook Air Museum. Both were interesting but we also wanted to see the ocean again. We drove along the coast for a while and ended up walking around the Cape Meares area. It was a cool and windy day, not surprising that it was in February, but it was a nice day to take a little walk and explore the area and see the lighthouse. Public House Gathering Place in Springfield, Oregon

Public House Bldg

As you may have seen from some of my posts on my blog here, as well as on other social media sites, Gene and I enjoy trying different craft breweries when we travel. One such place we really enjoyed is called the Oregon Public House in Springfield, Oregon. Not only did we enjoy some local brew, but the place is quite unique in itself. A little bit more about that in a bit. This place was one of the closest places to the Airbnb we were staying at during our visit in September of 2021. As it was the closest, we decided to check it out the first night we were there. We enjoyed it so much that we went back several times while in the area. Tillamook Creamery, Oregon – Doing Things Right for over 100 Years!

Tillamook Creamery - Entrance

Mention the City Tillamook in Oregon, and most people will immediately think of the Tillamook Creamery. While in the Portland area in February of 2022 we decided to take a drive out west to see the Pacific Ocean again, the Tillamook Air Museum, as well as the Tillamook Creamery, yum! This amazing factory and visitor center is about two miles north of the actual city of Tillamook on Route 101 and about 1hr to 1 ½ from the Portland area. It was definitely worth the drive to visit the area and their facility.

Tillamook Air Museum – Blimp Hanger Museum in Tillamook, Oregon

Tillamook Air Museum - FrontWhile exploring the beautiful west coast of Oregon and visiting Tillamook Cheese Factory in February of 2022, Gene also wanted to explore the Tillamook Air Museum. He is big into aviation as you made have seen in my Boeing and Museum of Flight, Tukwila, WA posts. I have tagged along for a few of them and they have each been so different. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect at this museum as we only found out about it a few days before our trip and I didn’t have any time to do research. However, it was incredible to see and I am so glad I was along to tour this museum. The only thing I did know was that it was located in a former US Navy Air Station, opened in 1994, and had a lot of memorabilia, such as medals and gear, from WWII.

Underground Cities Around the World

Living in Colorado for a few years now I have heard some of the controversies about whether Denver has an underground city. I did some searching and couldn’t find anything concrete, however, I did find quite a bit of information about other cities around the world that do have underground cities. Thus, I decided to share this information and hope you may find it interesting too. If you know of or want to share other underground cities, please feel free to share in the comments below.

Mount Angel, Oregon – A Bavarian Town in the US

Mount Angel - WeingardenLast September we were in Eugene, Oregon and had a great time exploring the area. We really enjoyed checking out several covered bridges in the area and you can see my post on the link. On the way back to Portland to catch our late afternoon flight, we had to check out the cute little German town named Mount Angel. I had heard about it before, but wasn’t sure exactly where it was. I was very happy to find out it wasn’t too far out of our way to stop in for a brat and a bier before we headed home!

Covered Bridges Located in the Cottage Grove Area Near Eugene, Oregon

Covered Bridge - Main PIcIn September of 2020 we were in Eugene, Oregon and were amazed at the beautiful area. There were big enough cities around, but you could also get out and explore some of the countryside if you wish. We found a book in our Airbnb and saw an article about several covered bridges in the area. For those that have been following me, you may have noticed I love bridges. Check out my post on Mackinaw Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Perrine Bridge, etc. Bridges are awesome, lol. White Water Rafting – Six White Water Rivers to Paddle this Summer!

White Water RaftingI have always loved the water but forgot how much until I was working on my Beach, Mountains, or Best of Both Worlds post. It made me stop, reflect, and acknowledge that it has been too long since I hit the beach or a stream. It also saddened me to realize that I have never been White Water Rafting. That is unless you count the Big Foot Rapids ride at Knott’s Berry Farm, which I don’t. lol It was fun and all, but I would love to experience the real thing one day. With that in mind, I did some research and found 6 rivers that I would love to explore via rafting.  I am going to start with the Salmon River in Idaho. Oregon State Capitol in Salem – She Flies With Her Own Wings

Oregon State Capitol - FrontGene and I set a lofty goal to travel and visit all 50 state capitols. We had been to quite a few of them separately, but have seen many together.
