Did the title make you hungry? I was feeling hungry when we visited the Pizza Hut Museum in Wichita on our recent trip to Kansas in March of 2022, lol. In all seriousness, this was a great museum and so glad we were able to do a self-guided tour of this small little building that was the original Pizza Hut location. It has since been moved and is now located on the campus of Wichita State University. Even though it is small, it is packed with information and history about the Pizza Hut brand. Here is their story.
Plains Indians and the Keeper of the Plains – Wichita, KS
Early March of 2022 when took a 4-day weekend trip to check out the small town of Wichita, Kansas. One of the things high on my list I wanted to see was the Keeper of the Plains. It stands at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers and is located adjacent to the Mid-America All-Indian Center. This 44-foot Cor-Ten steel sculpture by Kiowa-Comanche artist Blackbear Bosin was erected on May 18, 1974, to celebrate the United States Bi-centennial and has kept a watchful eye on the city ever since. Around the statue are multiple displays which describe the life, belief, and practices of the local Plains Indians tribe(s) that used to inhabit the area, as well as several fire pits which are sometimes lit to illuminate the statue at night. Below are some of the writing on the displays sharing their stories. Here is also a link to their website with more information if you want to visit yourself while in the area. Wichita, Kansas – Fun Things to do in the Heart of the Country
We are heading to Wichita, Kansas right now as I am sharing this post! Yeah, I know, not the first thing on people’s mind when they think of where they want to travel, but we are taking a road trip and decided to check out this little city that we have mostly only breezed through while going east or coming home. With that said, I did some research and found some of the most exciting things to see and do in Wichita. We are both looking forward to exploring a few of these while in the area for the long weekend. Here are seven things I found and they are not in any particular order:

The Taste of Colorado – A Colorado Labor Day Tradition
Experiencing the Taste of Colorado had been on our list of things to do since we moved here to Colorado. Happily, we can now say that we finally made it to the annual celebration for the first time in 2015! I had seen pictures and heard stories about the Taste of Colorado, but it was great to finally experience it firsthand. We had a great time. Hawaii – Maryland – US States Number 11 Through 20
HAWAII – MARYLAND
We have traveled a lot throughout the US and have actually been to 41 of the 50 States. Thus I decided to share some information about each state as well as the state road sign. If we didn’t get to a state sign yet (or forgot to get one while we were there), I have posted another picture of a state sign and will replace it once we have pictures. In the meantime, please enjoy the information on the states from Hawaii-Maryland. FYI, these are in alphabetical order.
