Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield 6While visiting some friends in Georgia and attending a convention in June of 2012, we had a great time checking out the Coca-Cola Museum as well as their capitol. One of the more interesting things we did was have dinner at  Stone Mountain and watched a laser light show on the huge monument depicting Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis during the Civil War. It was very interesting and led us to check out a few other Civil War parks and Battlefields. One such place we visited during our visit was Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. This huge park is located between Marietta and Kennesaw.

Michigan State Capitol in Lansing – The Great Lakes State

Michigan State Capitol - FrontIn May of 2021, we were happy to be able to stop in and do a tour of the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing, Michigan on our way back to Detroit after seeing the beautiful Mackinaw Bridge and Mackinaw Island. I am not exactly sure which state number this is, but we are close to 30-35 I think. Anyway, it is a beautiful capitol and I am happy we were able to take a tour.

Hilton Head, SC – Coligny Beach Park and Harbour Town Island

Hilton HeadI was incredibly happy to be able to spend New Year’s Eve of 2019/2020 in Hilton Head South Carolina. We had been to South Carolina once before to see their state capitol building, but never to Hilton Head, so I was so excited. I didn’t know much about Hilton Head, aka Hilton Head Island, or that it was named after Captain William Hilton.
