Coney Island, New York – Playground of the World

Gene and I were just in NYC last month and had an amazing time. We were able to see and do some of the things that we hadn’t been able to on previous trips, including a tour of Yankee Stadium as well as a game at Citi Field. However, another thing that was high on our list to do was to check out Coney Island. It has always been fall or winter when we had been there, and it was just a little too cold to spend the day running around Coney Island. However, May was a perfect time to visit for a couple of reasons. First, it was scorching, which is extremely important for me as I am NOT a heat person. Secondly there usually aren’t a lot of people and tourists there yet. We also quickly learned that the rides and such weren’t open for the season yet (the park opened the following weekend 🙁 ) which also cut down on the would-be traffic.

Bayside Marketplace Entertainment Experience – Miami, Florida

Bayside Marketplace - Sign

For New Year’s Eve of 2020-2021, we were in Miami Florida and had a great time. I will never forget our experience at the Sawgrass Everglades Boat Tour. Truly an amazing experience.  However, one of the places we kept coming back to visit was the Bayside Marketplace. It was a great place to hang out, do a little shopping, people watch, and see the several Christmas trees that were still up. One of them even included an Island Santa, lol. Thought that was really funny but fitting for the area. We enjoyed walking around, grabbing some lunch, and just enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean. Man, I miss that being in a land-locked state.

Niagara Falls New York – Experience the Rush of the Falls

Niagara Falls New York - 1Niagara Falls New York was the highlight of my birthday trip to Buffalo in October of 2021.  To say they were breathtaking would be an understatement. They were phenomenal and we were lucky enough to see them from both the US side and the Canadian side. I absolutely love waterfalls and with all our traveling, I still can’t believe we hadn’t been to see these iconic falls before. So glad we finally made it to Niagara Falls New York for the first time!!

Treasure Falls and Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado – Breathtaking Views

Treasure Falls and Wolf Creek Pass - 1After leaving the wonderful Pagosa Springs area on our anniversary in May 2017, we headed to Canon City to explore the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. We marveled at the amazing Treasure Falls just a few minutes out of Pagosa. Then we were able to enjoy some breathtaking views at Wolf Creek Pass.  Both were amazing and we were glad we were able to see them on our way out of the Pagosa Springs area. Colorado Road Trips – Some of our Favorites Around the State

We have now lived in Colorado for many years and really enjoy the beauty and variety in this beautiful state. While we have explored quite a few places since we have been here, we haven’t visited as many as we would have liked. We know we aren’t going to be in this colorful state forever and made a plan to see more of it. Thus we have done a few road trips and wanted to share which Colorado road trips we have enjoyed the most.  Today I want to share some of the trips we’ve taken along the I-70 from Idaho Springs, to Loveland Pass, and then out to Dillion Reservoir. While we didn’t necessarily do these all in one day, we really enjoyed them and I decided to share them all as one post. We also did the Peak to Peak Highway one time and I will share that separately. But today I will start with Idaho Springs and work our way westward.

Daytona Beach Florida Memories and 7 FREE Things to Do

Daytona Beach 2In June of 2018, we were in Florida for the LWMS Convention in Orlando. We went out a few days early and spent 4 nights in  Daytona Beach. It was amazing, and we had a great time. We were able to tour the Casements and Rockefeller Gardens, Daytona International Speedway, Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory,  as well as Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens. However, the highlight of course was the amazing Daytona Beach. I want to share some history of Daytona as well as some of our Daytona Beach Photos and a short video. The Casements & Rockefeller Gardens – Ormond Beach, Florida

Casements FrontWe recently returned from a trip to the hot and humid state of Florida. It was June of 2017 and way too muggy for me, lol. Other than that, we had a really nice time, especially in the Daytona area. One day while in Ormond Beach checking out the Ormond Memorial Art and Gardens, we were able to do a tour of The Casements and Gardens. Sadly I admit that I had not heard of this place until doing research for our trip, however, I am so glad we visited it while in the area in June of 2017.
