While staying at an Airbnb in Beaverton, Oregon in Feb of 2022 we decided to take a short trip west to visit the Tillamook Creamery and the Tillamook Air Museum. Both were interesting but we also wanted to see the ocean again. We drove along the coast for a while and ended up walking around the Cape Meares area. It was a cool and windy day, not surprising that it was in February, but it was a nice day to take a little walk and explore the area and see the lighthouse. Gene and I were just in NYC last month and had an amazing time. We were able to see and do some of the things that we hadn’t been able to on previous trips, including a tour of Yankee Stadium as well as a game at Citi Field. However, another thing that was high on our list to do was to check out Coney Island. It has always been fall or winter when we had been there, and it was just a little too cold to spend the day running around Coney Island. However, May was a perfect time to visit for a couple of reasons. First, it was scorching, which is extremely important for me as I am NOT a heat person. Secondly there usually aren’t a lot of people and tourists there yet. We also quickly learned that the rides and such weren’t open for the season yet (the park opened the following weekend 🙁 ) which also cut down on the would-be traffic.
For New Year’s Eve of 2020-2021, we were in Miami Florida and had a great time. I will never forget our experience at the Sawgrass Everglades Boat Tour. Truly an amazing experience. However, one of the places we kept coming back to visit was the Bayside Marketplace. It was a great place to hang out, do a little shopping, people watch, and see the several Christmas trees that were still up. One of them even included an Island Santa, lol. Thought that was really funny but fitting for the area. We enjoyed walking around, grabbing some lunch, and just enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean. Man, I miss that being in a land-locked state.
Hi all, I am doing a little something different this month and doing a 5 part series on cities to visit in the Dominion Republic. This is the final part of my 5 part series. Below are links to other cities in the country that we hope to visit. I have been watching some of my favorite YouTube vloggers Delightful Travellers and they have been there for six months and are planning to be there for a few more months. They make it look so beautiful and inviting that we are seriously thinking about spending a week or so there over Christmas and New Years’ this year. We have never been out of the country over the New Year I don’t think, and have never been to the Dominion Republic so this will be an adventure! Not sure where we will end up if we do go to the DR, thus I wanted to do some research on many cities to decide where we would like to visit most. This post is about a beach city named Puerto Plata. In it, I am going to share some of the fun things I hope to do if we make it to Puerta Plata, as well as share a little history about the area.

With Spring officially beginning on Sunday, people may be making plans for a spring or summer cruise. Gene and I have only been on one 3-day 2-night cruise once, so we are definitely not seasoned cruisers. However, now that we are both officially in the 55+ club, it may be time to do some cruising. I did some research and there are wide selections of cruises available. Even after doing some research, picking the right one can seem overwhelming and a bit taxing. There are many things to consider when picking a cruise that doesn’t just include the destination. You also have to think about the duration of the cruise, activities aboard the ship, as well as activities on land. Continue reading “Cruising – Some of The Best Cruising Options for the 55+ Club”
As stated in many previous posts, I am thrilled to be living in Colorado now but there are a few things I miss about the Golden State of California. I miss our family and friends of course which is why we keep coming back to visit so often. However, while we are there, I also love eating at a few restaurants that aren’t in CO as well as seeing the incredible Pacific Ocean. I have been on both coasts and really like the Pacific better. There is just nothing like it. We usually try to get to one of our two favorites Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. On this particular trip, we made it to Huntington Beach. Even though it was cold, and the water was probably beyond freezing, we enjoyed being in the area. Continue reading “Huntington Beach in California – Love Strolling Along the Ocean”
