Bayside Marketplace Entertainment Experience – Miami, Florida

Bayside Marketplace - Sign

For New Year’s Eve of 2020-2021, we were in Miami Florida and had a great time. I will never forget our experience at the Sawgrass Everglades Boat Tour. Truly an amazing experience.  However, one of the places we kept coming back to visit was the Bayside Marketplace. It was a great place to hang out, do a little shopping, people watch, and see the several Christmas trees that were still up. One of them even included an Island Santa, lol. Thought that was really funny but fitting for the area. We enjoyed walking around, grabbing some lunch, and just enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean. Man, I miss that being in a land-locked state.

Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO – Boulder’s Commercial Artery

Pearl Street Mall-BuffaloIn November of 2019 we did a staycation and spent a long weekend at the Hyatt Place here in Boulder, CO. While there we were able to do something that we hadn’t done since we’ve lived here in CO, we walked up and down Pearl Street Mall. Here is a little bit of trivia for those interested, the Pearl Street Mall was officially dedicated on August 6, 1977.  It was nice to be out and about, but the most fun was watching all the street performers. It was a little chilly, but not too bad for the beginning of November. Continue reading “Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO – Boulder’s Commercial Artery”

The Taste of Colorado – A Colorado Labor Day Tradition

Taste of Colorado - UsExperiencing the Taste of Colorado had been on our list of things to do since we moved here to Colorado. Happily, we can now say that we finally made it to the annual celebration for the first time in 2015! I had seen pictures and heard stories about the Taste of Colorado, but it was great to finally experience it firsthand. We had a great time.  Continue reading “The Taste of Colorado – A Colorado Labor Day Tradition”

Indoor Farmers Market and the Kuhio Beach Hulu Show – Waikiki, Oahu

Indoor Farmers Market - VeggiesThere were a lot of cool things about being at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki during our visit to Oahu in December of 2016. One of them was being able to enjoy the Indoor Farmers Market they hold every Tuesday and Thursday night from 4-8 pm. We hit it right after watching the amazing Hula Show on Kuhio Beach. I will share a little more about that show in a bit, but first I want to share a little about the wonderful Farmers Market.

Open Air Market – Phoenix Public Market in Arizona

Open Air Market - 1In March of 2017, my niece Alex and I spent a few days together in Phoenix. We enjoyed visiting the OdySea Aquarium and checking out some of South Mountain Park. We also enjoyed a great meal at Comedor Guadalajara. However, our trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the Phoenix Public Market – aka the Open Air Market. Lego Store in New York, NY – Only the Best is Good Enough

Lego SignOn our recent trip to NYC, we enjoyed checking out the Union Square Holiday Market as well as many famous landmarks. So we had to make sure to go visit the Flatiron Building. While in the area, we saw the Lego store right across the street. My little 5-year-old nephew is obsessed with Lego products, so of course, I had to go in and see what he would like. It was close to Christmas after all, lol

Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington – Let’s Go Shopping

Pike Place Market - SignOne of the things Gene really wanted to see and do while we were in Seattle in May of 2016, besides Boeing and Museum of Flight, was visiting the Pike Place Market. He claimed the main reason was to watch the guys throw some fish around. I really didn’t see the appeal on the fish-throwing part, but I did want to see the market.  We spent a few areas one afternoon before heading next door to Safeco Field to watch my Angels play the Mariners. We had a great time walking about the market place which I learned opened on August 17, 1907. Wow, I had no idea it has been around that long. French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana – The Many Sights and Sounds

French Quarter-Bldg1Earlier I shared my post which focused on Jackson Square in the French Quarter. This post is also about the sights and sounds in the French Quarter. Also known as the Vieux Carré District, it is the oldest section of the City of New Orleans and was designated a historical landmark on Dec 21, 1965. It is also the home of the beautiful Saint Louis Cathedral.  We were thrilled to be able to explore this historic city while in the area for New Year’s Eve 2017/2018. It was one of the most amazing New Year’s Eve celebrations we’ve been to. Just wanted to share that before I moved on,  lol Continue reading “French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana – The Many Sights and Sounds”

Union Square Holiday Market – An Annual New York Tradition

Union Square 1Last year we spent a wonderful week in New York City. The city is always amazing, but it is truly magical at Christmas. Besides the beautiful tree at Rockefeller Center and decorations everywhere, they also have many Christmas Markets. We were lucky enough to be able to explore two of them while we were there, Bryant Park and Union Square. They were both incredible, but I think I liked the one at Union Square a little more. Ala Moana Center – Largest Open Air Center in the World – Waikiki, Hawaii

Ala-Moana-ViewFirst I want to start off by saying that I am not a huge shopper or shopaholic as many people call them. However, I do enjoy strolling around malls that are new to me, especially one as grand as Ala Moana Center.  While in Waikiki in December of 2016 Gene had gone to see the ship next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial, so I decided to hang back in Waikiki and check out this amazing center.
