Letchworth State Park – The Grand Canyon of the East

Letchworth State Park - BenchGene and I were in Buffalo exploring the area and Niagara Falls in October 2021. While in the area, we were happy to be able to do a short beautiful drive about 35 miles southeast of Buffalo and visit Letchworth State Park.  Neither of us had heard about this place, but our Airbnb host Joanne told us about it and I can’t thank her enough. It is something we are so glad we were able to visit. The road followed the Genesee River and went through several little towns like Leicester, Mount Morris, Portage, Castile, and Genesee Falls. We did stop in one of these little towns to grab a soda to go along with the lunch we had packed for the day.

Hyatt Resorts – Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort, Hawaii

Hyatt Regency Waikiki - FrontAs Hyatt Reward members we have stayed at a few Hyatt locations, however, none of them have been as nice as the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. It is located on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki and has to be one of the most incredible hotels in the Hyatt Brand.  We had stayed at the Andaz on 5th Avenue in New York which was really nice, but this one blew me away. The Aloha Spirit was evident as soon as I walked into the hotel in December of 2016. As we headed toward the front desk at least 3 employees nodded and said aloha, and one of them offered me a drink of water or pineapple Iced Tea. It was very tasty. It was a very nice welcome. The Great Falls on the Missouri River- Great Falls, Montana

Great Falls 3While we were in Montana visiting my niece in September of 2019 we were able to visit the Great Falls. It was one of the things I had looked forward to seeing while on our visit (besides my niece of course, lol). They are absolutely breathtaking in many ways. What I didn’t know was that there were several of them. There are actually a series of five falls along a 10-mile segment of Missouri River in Great Falls, Montana. BTW, the pictures on this post don’t necessarily correspond with the falls I may be talking about. They are random since we couldn’t get pictures of them all (more on that later).

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad – All Aboard!

Durango - Silverton 1There is nothing like a train trip, except a scenic fall train trip in October for your birthday. Gene and I went to Durango in October of 2009 and took a train trip on the Durango – Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It was phenomenal and breathtaking. I couldn’t believe the amazing views around every turn. The best part was that the tickets were a gift from a customer at my former company.  That just made it even sweeter.

Hyatt Resorts – The Hyatt Regency Orlando, Florida

Hyatt Regency Orlando - BldgSince becoming members of the Hyatt Rewards Program we have stayed at many including two of my favorites the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa and the Grand Hyatt here in Colorado. However, each hotel we stay at and visit is just as wonderful as the previous location. The same can be said about our latest excursion to the Hyatt Regency Orlando, in Orlando Florida in June of 2017.   We were in Orlando for the LWMS convention that happened to be held in the convention center connected to the hotel. So not only was the hotel amazing, but it was also quite convenient. Continue reading “Hyatt Resorts – The Hyatt Regency Orlando, Florida”

September 11 Memorial and Museum, NYC – Never Forget

911 MemorialThere is no easy way to talk about the September 11 National Memorial and not have it bring up memories of the fateful day no matter where you lived in the U.S. While visiting New Jersey and New York in October 2015, we spoke with many people about where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news about the attacks.  It’s still hard to comprehend the magnitude of what happened that day, especially for those who lost loved ones.
