Jackson Square in the French Quarter – New Orleans, Louisiana

Jackson-Square-Statue-1No trip to New Orleans is complete without a visit to Jackson Square in the French Quarter.  Thus we made sure to check it out while in the area, December 2017. The square was designed after the famous 17th-century Place des Vosges in Paris, France, by the architect and landscape architect Louis H. Pilié. and is roughly the size of a city block. Though it may be small in size, it is huge in history. Continue reading “Jackson Square in the French Quarter – New Orleans, Louisiana”

Ala Moana Center – Largest Open Air Center in the World – Waikiki, Hawaii

Ala-Moana-ViewFirst I want to start off by saying that I am not a huge shopper or shopaholic as many people call them. However, I do enjoy strolling around malls that are new to me, especially one as grand as Ala Moana Center.  While in Waikiki in December of 2016 Gene had gone to see the ship next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial, so I decided to hang back in Waikiki and check out this amazing center. Coca-Cola - BuildingA Coke and a Smile was playing constantly through my mind while exploring the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a wonderful place to escape on a hot June day in 2012. The unlimited drinks at the Taste It Sampling Bar also helped. Gene and I were in the Atlanta area and spent part of the day with some friends that live in the area. We had a great time, and their kids really seemed to enjoy themselves too. Let me tell you about our visit and a little bit about the amazing World of Coca-Cola Museum. The Salvador Dalí Museum – St. Petersburg, Florida

Salvador-Dali-SignOn a trip to St. Petersburg/Tampa in May of 1999,  we visited the Salvador Dali Museum. For those of you who are not familiar with Dali, he has been called The man, The master, and The marvel. Whatever you called him, he was a surrealist artist who was born in Figueres, Spain, on May 11, 1904. He always took great risks and proved how rich the world can be when you dare to embrace pure, boundless creativity. Continue reading “The Salvador Dalí Museum – St. Petersburg, Florida”

Knott’s Scary Farm- A Southern California Halloween Tradition

My favorite amusement park is Knott’s Berry Farm in California, and one of October’s best things to do is spend an evening at their annual Knott’s Scary Farm. According to Knott’s, it all began in September of 1973. The park was getting rid of Gypsy Camp, and between the marketing and entertainment departments, they introduced a new concept–a Halloween-themed event for the evenings of October 26 to 28. Halloween Haunt was born. It is now known as Knott’s Scary Farm!
