Freedom – Quit My 9-5 Cube to Live the Freedom Lifestyle

Freedom - People Celebrate

I have a dream! No, I am not sharing MLK’s speech, but I do have a dream that I want to share with you today. I have been working hard and saving as much as I can for the last few years to be able to quit my 9-5 cubical job and live the freedom lifestyle. My hope and desire have been to be able to work full-time on my blog. It has been a goal to be able to work from home doing what I love for years, but especially since I started this blog. in the middle of 2015. On that note, I started this adventure during a very low time at my job. There was a month or two with many changes, a lot of people leaving (like 8-10 people), and I lost respect for someone that I had truly admired. It was an eye-opening period that left me feeling hopeless, heartbroken, and totally defeated. Everything I did felt pointless.  The only thing that kept my going was my team members and the consultants I help to support. They always showed me their appreciation and still do. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wouldn’t have made it through those few months without you and your support.

Freedom - ChairWith that said, I officially resigned from my 9-5 job to pursue my dream of living a freedom lifestyle! It is extremely scary but also so darn EXCITING!  I can’t wait to be able to work when I want, and, where I want.  It has been a very hard decision and part of me is sad that I had to tell one of the best managers I have had in my career that I was leaving.  What the future holds, I don’t know. I could fall flat on my face and be making the worse decision of my life. Or I could excel beyond my wildest dreams. Only time will tell which will happen, but I have to give it a shot.  If I don’t I will always wonder and regret not trying.

This post has been a LONG time coming and I can’t believe I am actually able to sit down and write it. As I said I started my travel blog about 3 years ago and love it. It has been a LOT of hard work but so rewarding too. Sometimes I’ve felt a little overwhelmed with working a full-time 9-5 job and then coming home to work on my blog. I often feel like I am burning the candle at both ends to try and build it and make it a success. Weekends are a thing of the past as well. If I am not at work, I am usually working on my blog. However, with the support of my wonderful husband Gene, I couldn’t do any of this without him, I am beyond THRILLED to share that this is about to end soon.   My freedom is going to start the new year as a full-time blogger!!!

I hadn’t planned on making this announcement until later this year. However, some changes happened at work (nothing bad) that made it seem like the right time. Unless something else changes, I will still be working at BH until sometime in December, I just made it official earlier than expected. I know God has a plan for me – Jeremiah 29:11 – and I have to just pray that this is the right decision at the right time and that He will guide me down the right path to be successful.

Freedom - ChampagneLike I said, I am a little scared and nervous, but also so eager to start this new chapter of my life I am calling the freedom lifestyle. I have been asked by a few people “How can I help you with this new adventure?”  so I wanted to address that in this post. The best way to help me is to pray for success and strength to continue even when things might not seem to be going the way I want them. The next best way to help is to share my Facebook posts, Tweets, Instagram posts, and any other social media sites where you see my blog posts shared. I would also appreciate comments and thoughts on said posts. Engagement is the best way to make posts successful. Thirdly, if you are planning a trip or vacation and staying at a hotel, think about booking it through my site. It doesn’t cost you anymore (sometimes you even get a discount) but it does give me a small commission.  If you can do that, it would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Prague - Charles-Bridge-UsTHANK YOU so much for reading this and for helping to support me since I started my blog. It means the world to me. To my co-workers at BH reading this, thank you again for making me feel appreciated and needed around the office. I will truly miss all of you. We still have a few months to see each other around the office 🙂 Please keep in touch via social media, or email me at goldenagetraveling@gmail.com. I would also love to have you as one of my followers following me on my freedom lifestyle journey.  Cheers to this new chapter in my life!
