WE VISITED OUR 50TH STATE IN MAY 2024!!!

We are Eugene and Samantha Taki and are so happy you stopped by!

Thank you for making my day and taking the time to read our Golden Age Traveling Blog. It is about our family and our travels through the US, Canada, Caribbean, Europe and Mexico.  As of this post, we have been to all 50 states and 10 or 11 countries. It’s not as many as some people, but way more than some. Our goal was to reach every state here in the US by 2025, and our 50th state, Deleware in May 2024! We are more than thrilled to have achieved this goal. 🙂 For the history buffs out there, we did save the 1st state for the last state we visited. You can learn more about us on my Get to Know US page.  With that said, Gene and I both joined the 55+ club a few years ago, thus I have decided to not only share our travels, but also share hotel reviews, destinations, cruise information, and tips on how to travel smart for the 55+ club crowd.

Like I said though, the Golden Age Traveling blog was designed for other people who enjoy traveling regardless of age and want to read about our vacation and the activities that are available in that area.   Maybe our stories will bring back some pleasant memories for you from a previous vacation. I enjoy writing about our trips and reliving them through pictures and stories. Hopefully you will enjoy reading about our trips. Our Latest Adventures

 

I am so honored, thrilled, and blessed to share that we completed our mission of visiting all 50 states!!! We can now officially say we have stepped foot in every state in this amazing country called the United States of America.  People have asked what our favorite state is, and it is so hard to answer. Just like each capitol building we have been too, each state is so unique and special. I can easily answer what some of my favorite cities or areas are in each state. That is much easier to answer, lol. We have also been asked, “How long did it take you to visit them all?” It wasn’t a real goal until about 7-8 years ago where we focused on trying to hit 2 or 3 new states a year. We also decided early on, that we had to visit each state together. There were a few states we have both been to before, but not together. While it wasn’t planned what our last state would be, when we had about 10 states left we decided Delaware would be our last state. We decided this because it was the 1st state to ratify the United States Constitution on December 7, 1787.

We feel so blessed to be able to be part of this group who has achieved this goal.  According to a recent YouGov poll explored how many and which states Americans have visited, as well as which states they designate as their favorite and least favorite. From among the 50 states and Washington D.C., Americans on average have been to 17. While one in 10 Americans (11%) say they’ve never left the state they live in, fewer than 2% say they’ve visited at least 50 of the 51 states and D.C. Once Gene retires, and we do some more international travel, we plan on doing each state again in a year. Trying to spend up to a week in each state before deciding which state we want to make our future home. So far, Oregon and Washington State are leading the pack, lol All I know, is it needs to near a body of water. J  With all that said, I wanted to share a few pictures from our last state, Delaware, and our celebration!

Our Next Big Adventure

In October we are taking our travels internationally again. We are spending my birthday in Bogotá Colombia! It is the capitol city and home to many museums, history, and culture. We can’t wait to explore this beautiful and colorful city. We know some people may think we are strange to go to a country in South America, but it is the next continent on our next goal of hitting each of the 7 continents, lol.  While we may not actually visit Antarctica (for several reasons) we are also going to mark off Central America as we are doing a 24-hour layover in Panama. We are both excited to see the Panama Canal.  So stayed tuned for all our upcoming adventures and blog posts. Happy Travels!
