Indoor Farmers Market and the Kuhio Beach Hulu Show – Waikiki, Oahu

Indoor Farmers Market - VeggiesThere were a lot of cool things about being at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki during our visit to Oahu in December of 2016. One of them was being able to enjoy the Indoor Farmers Market they hold every Tuesday and Thursday night from 4-8 pm. We hit it right after watching the amazing Hula Show on Kuhio Beach. I will share a little more about that show in a bit, but first I want to share a little about the wonderful Farmers Market.

Indoor Farmers Market - FruitAs I said earlier, it is set up in Hyatt Regency in their beautiful open atrium.  It was crazy how it looked so different than the rest of the week, lol. Anyway, vegetables were in abundance, but what I enjoyed the most was the fresh fruit. Love it all, especially the pineapple. They even had papaya salad for sale, tapioca pudding, guava bread, taro bread, pastries, Masaladas, and big cinnamon buns. Are you hungry yet? lol

Indoor Farmers Market - Bath SaltsNot only did they have fruit and vegetable vendors, but there were also stands with jewelry, jams, butter, nuts (another one of my favorites) candles, and soaps.  Since I have a ton of candles still, I refrained from buying more but lost the battle with the bath salts and soaps. They all smelled so good, especially all of the ones that smelled fruity.

Indoor Farmers Market - Wood WorkThe one thing that was a little bit of a disappointment was no hot food to buy (unless they had stopped by the time we got there). We hadn’t had dinner yet and I was hoping to grab something while we were walking around and shopping. The silver lining in Farmers Market was that many of the food vendors gave out samples. It wasn’t a lot, obviously, but it helped 🙂  I really enjoyed trying many different flavored macadamia nuts from Ahualoa Farms. I didn’t even know they had flavored ones. Yummy.

Indoor Farmers Market - Nut VendorOne last thing you have to do while at the Indoor Farmers Market at the Hyatt is to visit the Lucky Cat exhibit on the ground floor Ewa Tower.  This fun interactive display distributes clever sayings and fortunes throughout the day.  Here is a picture of Gene with the huge kitty. Looks like it’s petting him instead of him petting it, lol.  Too funny.

Indoor Farmers Market - Gene and CatWe had a nice time walking around and talking to the many vendors. It was very interesting finding out about their food and products. I liked how proud they were of the fact that their products were grown or made using local ingredients found in Hawaii. Truly authentic and well appreciated. You should definitely check it out when you are in Waikiki. My only regret was that we should have gone earlier, as we only had an hour after the show. It still worked out well though. Again, I was happy that they not only have great food but also fun craft tables. Hope to visit again on a future visit to the Island of Oahu.

KUHIO BEACH HULA SHOW

Kuhio Beach Hula Show 1This is a FREE authentic Hawaiian music and hula show led by Hawaii’s finest Hawaiian performers. The show opens with torch lighting and the traditional blowing of a conch shell. It runs Tues-Thurs-Sat, weather-permitting. 6:30-7:30 p.m. (6:00-7:00 p.m. Nov-Dec-Jan) at the Kuhio Beach Hula Mound, diagonally across Kalakaua Ave. from Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach hotel at Uluniu Ave. If in the area, you should check it out. Casual, seating on the grass; beach chairs, mats, etc. okay. The performers were wonderful and even posed with many people for pictures after the show. Highly recommend this show to people of all ages.

Kuhio Beach Hula Show 2After the performance finished the entertainers hung around, talked to guests, and took a bunch of pictures. They taught us a nice Hawaiian greeting which I swore I would remember, but sadly it is now gone. 🙁 Guess I will have to go back and see the show again, lol. It was a lot of fun and I would highly suggest adding it to your list. Again is FREE. Mahalo for reading my post. 🙂
